Description:
Spelling Editor
Found most frequently as the scribe in depositions made by Mary Walcott, Mercy Lewis, Ann Putnam Jr, Sarah Bibber and Elizabeth Hubbard, but has recorded a considerable number of testimonies by others too. The prolific output of Putnam in this function probably explains his frequent recourse to formulaic phraseology of the kind which makes depositions made by different people appear very similar in their wording.

See eg ecca1159, ecca1160 and ecca1162.
